With the passage of time, our legs may begin to look less attractive. Heredity and estrogen hormones are often the culprits. Spider veins, those small, unsightly superficial blood vessels that appear red or blue in the skin, occur commonly on both the legs and face. These dilated blood vessels may look like a spider web or a tree with branches in a “sunburst” pattern. They may cover a large area and be very bothersome and even painful. Having spider veins and broken capillaries can make you feel less confident about your appearance, especially when wearing shorts or a bathing suit. Bulging varicose veins can be particularly unsightly and uncomfortable. Age Defy has a comprehensive Spider Vein Therapy Program to treat unwanted blood vessels, from the smallest spider veins to larger, bulging vessels.
Our spider vein treatment destroys or dramatically reduce spider veins by injecting a blood vessel with a special “sclerosing” solution using a very fine needle. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel causing it to swell and stick together. Over a period of weeks, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades, eventually becoming barely noticeable. A single blood vessel may need to be injected more than once, some weeks or months apart, depending on its size. A number of vessels can be injected in any one spider vein treatment session. Occasionally, larger varicose veins are connected to the spider veins. In such cases, these vessels are treated along with spider veins. This can be done by sclerotherapy or by a technique that uses ultrasound to guide the injection of the sclerosing solution called Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy (UGS). There are several ways to treat spider veins on the face such as Age Defy’s copper bromide Laser or intense pulsed light treatments. To schedule a schlerotherapy consultation, please call 877-AGE-DEFY or contact us online.
